Shankar Earni is a researcher, engineer and technical expert in the Building and Industrial Applications Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he supports the Department of Energy (DOE) in their efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Prior to joining LBNL, Shankar worked as a Senior Performance Assurance Specialist at Johnson Controls Inc. where he was involved in the development, implementation, and evaluation of energy projects in commercial buildings. He also led and participated in several energy audits for industrial and commercial sectors to identify energy and productivity savings.
Shankar has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering & Management from Oklahoma State University, and Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University in India. He has played a key role in developing various resources, tools, and technical publications related to energy efficiency and decarbonization for commercial buildings and the industrial sector.
Shankar is also a member of the IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol) committee, which is responsible for improving the state of measurement and verification practices.
