Julie Mulvaney Kemp

Julie Mulvaney Kemp is a Research Scientist in the Energy Markets and Planning Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Julie focuses on the integration of renewable generation into the electricity grid, specifically the relationships between variable generation, energy storage, and transmission, the interconnection of new resources, and solar market developments. Her work incorporates methods from operations research, economics, and data science.

Julie holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, where she researched online, time-varying and multi-period optimization problems with a focus on electric power systems applications. She also holds a B.S. in Systems Science & Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and previously worked as a consultant at Bain & Company.
