Abstract
This presentation provides foundational information on the U.S. electricity system, from generation to the end-use customer, and the regulatory and market frameworks governing its operations. It examines the need for regulatory oversight in the energy sector, the various actors and their roles, and different types of market structures. The presentation also provides an overview of common types of proceedings at state public utility commissions, such as rulemakings, rate cases, and planning proceedings.
